WHAT DOES AG MEAN TO MY CHILD:
|
| The Academically Gifted
Program here at Wendell is incorporated into the electives that students
select. They change each nine weeks, offering
a variety throughout the year. Here are a few choices that have been
taught. |
| Language Arts |
It's a Mystery---writing a personal story |
| |
It's Comical---developing their own comic book |
| |
Poetry and Writing Class---studying figuarative language and how to
understand |
| Math |
Let's Make a Million---learning the stock market |
| |
Logic and Problem Solving---higher order thinking to work math problems |
| Science |
Geology---How the earth was formed |
| Social Studies |
Around the World---students become travelers |
If your child is identified in third Grade, they may pick as many electives
as they would like to take. However, every identified student is asked
to select at least one AG elective each quarter. If your child is not identified in third grade but they are working
above grade level in their class and receiving 4's on assignments,
their teacher may recommend an elective that would best meet their
need. |
