A Little About Mrs. Debbie Allcox:
Mrs. Allcox grew up in Wendell and attended Wendell Elementary as a child! Reading, writing, visiting with friends and collecting dolls are just a few hobbies Debbie enjoys. She and her husband have two daughters. One daughter, Christina, is a pediatric nurse in Chapel Hill while her second daughter, Lauren, is a junior (majoring in English) at Peace College. Both Mrs. Allcox's parents and two brothers live in Wendell.
When asked, "Where would you go on vacation if you could go anywhere?" Mrs. Allcox answered, "My family and I would like to tour the New England states and eat lots of lobster!"
Mrs. Allcox has taught first grade for three years. She enjoys working with first graders because she finds it fascinating to see students "take-off" in learning. The amazing world of knowledge opens up for them and they are eager to learn. First graders are also kind, gentle and very loving towards others. Curiosity and a delightful sense of humor are other wonderful attributes found in many six and seven year olds. There is just nothing better than being part of the imaginative world of a six year old. Within each child lies unique gifts that need to be expressed and stretched.
Goals for this year include strengthening students' academic abilities while encouraging creativity, good character and individuality. Learning is a life-long task and Mrs. Allcox looks forward to encouraging a love of learning.
