So you need to find a new book to read and you're stumped. Use these websites to search for all kinds of books!
The BookHive is a great source of information about all kinds of books, both fiction and non-fiction, and has reviews written by kids from all over the country.
You'll need our NoveList school ID and password (on your Wendell Media bookmark) to search for book reviews and browse book lists. You can even create your own page (go to "Sign in to my NoveList") to keep track of books you'd like to read.

How to tell if a book is just right
So you've picked out a book in the media center. Before you check it out, take a couple of minutes, open it up to a page somewhere in the middle, and ask yourself,
- How many words do I not know?
- Are the letters too big, or are they too small and close together on the page?
- How long would it take me to read one page?
- Do I like the author's style--his or her way of describing scenes, characters, and what they say?
The Five-Word Rule
If you quickly read a couple of pages and come across more than five words that you DON'T know, this book is one that you should keep in mind in order to read later on. If you find just one word (or none) that you don't know, then you should think about moving on to something harder.
