Homework
A homework folder will be sent home each night. Inside we will include
a homework sheet that indicates your child’s weekly assignments.
The necessary materials needed to complete each assignment will be sent
home nightly. It is very important that your child complete each assignment
in a timely manner. Please sign your child’s homework sheet each
night. |
Schedule
Our school wide schedule has changed in order to better support our students.
On Mondays, teachers will be team teaching with the specialist to allow them
to integrate their knowledge and expertise with our second grade curriculum.
Students will attend magnet classes from 1:20-2:05 and 2:05-2:50 every Tuesday
through Friday.

Behavior
Your child will have the opportunity to earn “eagle’s eggs” (tickets)
throughout the year. These “eggs” can be earned school wide. Every
staff member has the ability to reward any child with “eagle’s
eggs.” Your child will store his/her “eggs” in their homeroom.
The “eggs” may be traded for small prizes in your child’s
homeroom or may be saved to redeem bigger prizes from the schools “eagle’s
nest” (see items in the display case). Your homeroom teacher will inform
you of any other behavior system used in their classroom. A behavior sheet
will be sent home each day indicating your child’s behavior. Please sign
this behavior sheet each night. |
Lunch
Our lunch time will be the same time each day.

Book-in-a-bag
Once reading groups begin, your child will bring home a book-in-a-bag every
night. It is very important that your child read to an adult each night.
Inside the bag you will also find a reading log, word list, reading strategies,
a response journal, and comprehension questions. All of these items can be
used at home to help with your child’s reading success. Please sign
your child’s reading log each night. |
Snack
We will have a snack time each morning. Please send only nutritious snacks
for your child. Do not send soda or candy to school for your child to have
during snack time.

Star Students
Each student will be given the opportunity to be the star student of the week
in his/her homeroom. The star student’s special assignments and privileges
will be discussed in more detail at a later date.

Specials
Specials will be taught on a two week rotation this year (Each student will
attend each specialist class every other week). Second graders will attend
art, music, theatre, PE, Spanish, dance, media, and computer lab.

Birthdays
Birthday treats must be shared during lunch unless other arrangements are made
with your teacher. Students with summer birthdays may celebrate their half
birthday during the school year.
