C.  Death in family.
D.  Medical, Dental, or other appointment with a health care provider approved in advance.

Excessive Absences:
Grades K-5 - Cumulative absences (any combination of excused and unexcused) at the elementary level above 30 are excessive.  Students who exceed 30 absences in a school year will be referred to an attendance committee that will determine if the child shall be retained.  The principal has the authority to waive the decisions of the committee.  Students with documented chronic health problems will be exempt from this policy.  Appeals of the decisions of the attendance committee shall follow the normal student grievance procedure.
