2009-10 Carpool Information

Morning Drop Off

Carpool students should be dropped off at the front of the school off Wendell Blvd. in the carpool loop area. Drop off may begin when the adults and Safety Patrol are stationed on duty at 7:15am. Students may not be released from vehicles prior to 7:15am. After students exit a vehicle, vehicles should remain in a single file line and exit the carpool loop. Due to the large amount of pedestrian traffic in the mornings, passing stopped vehicles is not safe and will not be allowed in the carpool loop. If you need to enter the building, please park in the marked spaces to the left of the carpool loop or by the gym and do not block the carpool lane.

It is important to remember that instruction for students begins at 7:45am. All students should arrive at school with time to get to classrooms and be ready to work by 7:45am. Carpool students wishing to eat breakfast should be dropped off no later than 7:30am. All outside entrance doors, except the main school entrance, will be locked each day at 7:45am. If your child arrives after the 7:45am tardy bell (the adults and Safety Patrol will have left the carpool loop), you will need to escort your child to the front office and sign your child in for the day. An ADULT is required to sign students in or out once the school day has begun. Late students are not admitted to class without a tardy slip from the front office. Thank you for your cooperation!

Afternoon Dismissal

Carpool students should sign up with the school office, and parents will be assigned a plastic carpool tag. This tag should be prominently displayed in the front windshield for safety identification during dismissal. At the end of the school day, carpool students will be escorted to the cafeteria by teachers and then dismissed to their respective vehicles according to the school issued carpool tag displayed in the front window of the vehicle. The school will provide each family with one carpool tag free of charge. An additional carpool tag may be ordered with the form below. Once students are loaded, cars should follow arrows to exit the campus through the staff parking lot to make a right turn onto Business 64.

To insure the safety of our students, carpool students WILL NOT be dismissed from the front office between 2:05-2:45 pm. Students will ONLY be released into vehicles displaying the school issued carpool tag. If someone other than yourself will pick your child up in the carpool lane, please send a written note to your child’s teacher on that day so that your child can be dismissed in the carpool lane. For the protection of all students, individuals missing school issued carpool tags or those who walk to the cafeteria for pick up must go to the office to check students out in the front office by showing proper identification and receiving a signed and dated dismissal slip. Students will only be released to persons listed on the child’s locator card and if necessary, we will hold the child at school until a parent/guardian can be contacted.
Although the first few weeks of carpool dismissal are a bit slow going, when everyone follows procedures, the process becomes a safe and efficient way to dismiss students.
